London based Jed Hampson, otherwise known as Slumberjunkie, continues to impress with latest single Because of My Friends - out now on Silver Bear Recordings.

A euphoric hit of intoxicating drum and bass, ‘Because of My Friends’ pays homage to 90s rave culture and the clubs which played a hugely important role in the cultural phenomenon.

Laced with heady drum and bass, dreamy pads and horns, reminiscent of 808 State’s ‘Pacific State’, the single acts as a nostalgic snapshot into a care free past – enhanced by snippets of reveller’s clubbing experiences which are heard throughout the track.

“All the samples are from this wicked mini-doc about the now defunct Lazerdrome in Peckham, a place I lived in and around for 10 years. The people in the video are so sweet and just having such a good time and I think they paint a sweet picture of the club at its best - a place to have dumb and silly fun with your mates”

Having received an abundance of support from the likes of Rinse FM, DJ Mag and Mixmag (the latter listing his previous single Waiting For Us as one of their tracks of the month), Slumberjunkie’s experimental methods aren’t going unnoticed, and his latest offering only further cements his place as one of the UK’s most forward thinking producers.

“This tune is a love letter to all the cultural spaces we’ve lost and continue to lose” Jed remarks, and with venues and clubs closing at alarming rates, this single highlights how crucial they remain for dance music today.
